Do I buy the olives in a can? I'm used to fresh olives at grocery store already being in marinade.

Whole, un-pitted olives can usually be found in the deli section of the supermarket. If you can't find these, I would use whole, un-pitted olives in a jar that are in a simple brine (not marinated) over ones that are in a can. Usually, the ones that are in a can are pitted. Cheers!
