Guilty food pleasures

Most of us on this site are avid cooks. chefs, or whatever, and it is often expected of us that we would prefer to actually cook than to go the "lazy" way and simply nuke a frozen burrito or something similar.

However, we are also human, and as such, occasionally we just don't feel like doing the work. So, what gives you the most pleasure to eat, or serve, when you don't feel like cooking? Perhaps you think of them as "comfort" foods.

I'll start. For me, there are about three things. DiGiorno Supreme pizza, (which is actually better than a lot of pizzeria pizza I've tasted) Hungry Man chicken dinners, and boxed macaroni and cheese. For the last, it doesn't seem to much matter which brand, as I always doctor it up with a pile of grated cheddar.

And yes, I certainly know how to make a cheese sauce from a bechamel. And my mac and cheese from scratch is to die for. Sometimes, however, I don't even feel like working THAT hard, you know? I just want something that tastes good with almost NO effort.

So, aside from going to the local sandwich shop, what do YOU do when you feel the same way?

Ah, we always did tomato soup with grilled cheese. :)

Ermm...

I don't own a microwave, so a lot of that is out for me...

My favorite guilty food?

I love to take a spicy italian sausage (without the casing) and ground pork and make balls stuffed with perlini. Throw a little olive oil and basic seasoning on them, pop them in the oven @375 for 20 minutes and boom... you're golden. A lot of times I'll have some pomodoro left over in the fridge... reheat it and top my meatballs with it... maybe with some roasted fingerling potatos... yeah, that's the stuff.

No microwave? Why on earth not?

As to the rest, it sounds to me like a lot of work to feel guilty over. I was talking about the things you basically merely heat up when you don't feel like cooking. The old "one-pot wonder."

Unless to you, being lazy is fixing less than three courses? :)

Ermm...

And actually, no one mentioned microwave food...

lazy daze

Publix fried chicken, 6 pack of guinness draft bottles, pre made coleslaw.

checkers fries, and frozen jalapeno poppers, pizza bites cooked in a fry daddy. This reminds me of stuff I'd eat after bong rips.

Hmmm....

Fat Tire Pale Ale... guilty pleasure at its best.

The French Fries variety, I am a Brit after all. Lol
