Epicurean Cutting Borads

Hello, I recently found this site and I love all the videos and recipes that you offer. I wanted your input on Epicurean cutting boards though. I am thinking of purchasing one and was looking for some input from real people that do alot of cooking.

Re: Epicurean Cutting Boards

Hi there, I am so glad you are enjoying the videos and recipes. As for the Epicurean Cutting Boards, I have never used them myself.

They look sturdy, but they also look hard...but again, I have never used one, so I am not sure.

The ones I use (actually most of us here at Rouxbe) are the same ones that most hotels and restaurants use. They are NSF cutting boards. They are white, easy to clean and dishwasher safe. They are also available at restaurant supply stores and are quite cheap. Here is a link to what they look like.

Hope this helps! Good luck and please let us know what you decided on and how you like it.

Yes, I would like to know what Loren decided as well. The one thing that concerns me in the Epicurian FAQ section is "Why are tiny particles appearing on my food when I use my Epicurean® cutting surface?"

Chalk it up to more fiber in the diet? :)

Epicurean Cutting Boards

I have a couple and I must say I don't like them very much. I now only use them for raw meat as they are easier to sterilize than my wooden board. I don't like the clack, clack sound they make when chopping, the knife tends to slide a bit on these boards and they are very hard. As said, great for raw meat, but if you want to do some serious chopping go with a maple or bamboo board. You have to maintain these with oil, etc. but they are worth the trouble.

I have a number of these and counting. Thery are made about 30 minutes from where I live and a friend of my sons works there. I have bought several through him as factory seconds. I have the 3 piece modular set which I like very much. The carving board and numerous other of varying sizes.

Also several spoons and spatulas made from the same material. In my opinion this is high quality and very functional equipment. Enjoy all my Epicurian pieces.
