Are Hanging baskets good for storing onions & garlic?

I've seen the metal baskets that hang from the ceiling which provide additional storage space for limited environments like mine. Are these recommended for storing onions and garlic?

To be honest Ken, I have never been asked this question. I just googled your question and I found this article that you may find helpful. You may also want to read the comments and/or other suggestions in the thread. I will say that it does seem as though the baskets would work for onions, garlic and potatoes. These need to be stored in a dry place with good air ventilation. Cheers!

Thrilled.

Hi, I am so thrilled with actually learning cooking, I have questions about it all. I'm doing so much more than cooking, which is very frustrating for the beginner results I am getting with pan sauces so far, but I will press forward with great expectations for success. On the subject of food storage, I think it is good if I learn about this from the experts. In a home environment, with a single person, it is easy to see food spoil because it is simply not used up fast enough. I bought a bag of onions, because I want to practice my dicing and mincing knife skills, but I will not use them all at once because I want to cook with them too.

The big thing beside cooking I have been doing is cleaning and re-organizing my kitchen. Soon I will examine and upgrade all of my cooking tools that do not conform to a basic good usefulness - but that will come later.

Thank You Dawn,

I have decided to run down to the store and get the appropriate hanging basket. This will also make good use of space that is not used and save other space which is so precious to find in my small living quarters.
