All Clad Copper Core Cookware

Hello everyone,

I am seriously thinking about buying some new All Clad Copper Core cookware and wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with it. I stopped at a Willians Sonoma store today and looked at it. It is definitely beautiful equipment. It is about $1200 for a 10 piece set so I wanted to see what my Rouxbe friends thought about it.

Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts.

My thoughts

Hi Andrew,

Haven't used AllClad but I do know that it's great cookware.

We've been using Viking and of course My Favorite is Mauviel (but much more expensive). You can't go wrong with this set. It will last you a lifetime.

Mauviel

Thanks for the input Joe. I looked at the Mauviel too. It is beautiful and from what I read it performs very well but I can't really justify the expense for the usage it would get from me at twice the price. The All Clad will perform near as well so that is the way I am going since I have not heard anything negative.

By the way, I did look at Viking too but it is almost non existant in the St. Paul, MN area except online.I was surprised the Williams Sonoma or Sur La Table did not carry it.

Take care.

RE: All-Clad

I have a few All-Clad pots and pans at home that I use regularly and have also had them for years. They aren't the copper-lined pans (just the stainless-steel) but nonetheless, they are an excellent product. As long as you treat them well and take good care of them, I am sure you will be very happy with your choice. Cheers!

Thanks

Thank you Kimberley. I think that the choice will be the stainless as well. It does not seem as if the copper expense is worth price over the stainless steel.
It is pretty interesting to sort through all the marketing and make a good choice.

All Clad D5

Well, I purchased the All-Clad with the new D5 technology. It was quite a bit cheaper than the copper dore. With the money that I saved I purchased a couple of LeCreuset pots at a local LeCreuset outlet store that had the new Signature line on sale at 30% off.
I am pretty happy with the new items.

I cooked Joe's salmon and vinagerette recipe tonight with rice and it went very well. Good stuff.

Thanks for the input everyone. I am looking forward to many years of enjoyment with the new cookware!

Woot! Woot!

All-Clad seconds

If you're near a T.J. Maxx or Marshall's store, you might well find some enticing All-Clad seconds at substantial discounts. Just a couple of days ago I was able to pick up a 12-inch Copper Core fry pan for all of $90. It had some hairline scratches, though otherwise was virtually pristine. I already had a 12-inch All-Clad SS skillet, but I couldn't resist. :-)
