Introduce Yourself to Your Fellow Cooking School Enrollees

Karen H

Karen of TinyBites.ca

Hi everyone,

I'm a Vancouver food blogger that has been attempting to output gourmet meals at home for 10 years...but I know I need help! No spare time to sign up for a formal cooking curriculum so I am ever so happy that Rouxbe has come out with an online cooking school.

Have started with a few of the lessons to date. Looking very forward to learning with all of you and blogging about the experience.

Amazing Resource

The Rouxbe Cooking School is, in a word, awesome. Some very interesting tips and tricks (The gluten/wheat was especially good). I'm watching the lessons to such an extent that my real school work might soon suffer! A great prep for culinary school, or as mentioned earlier, a pretty solid replacement! Thanks once again to the Rouxbe Team.

Austin C

Austin, Homeschooled in California

Hi, my name is Austin. I am 8 years old and I love to cook. I love it! It is wicked awsome! I have finished the knives lessons with my dad and now I am working on stocks.

What more is there to say?

After reading so many previous comments - I don't know what else I can add, other than Rouxbe.com is definitely what I have been looking for. With a very busy business my husband & I run, I never had the time to take cooking classes at a local college and then we started a family. Thought I'd never learn how to really "cook"! I'm more excited than words can say to have found Rouxbe.com. This is great! Thank you - Thank you!

I enjoy this site I've looked for a site like this for several years. I'm attending cullinary school now. I've said for years if I ever had the opportunity to go to culinary school, I would go. I got laid-off, only working part time, so I'm going.

Just what I needed !!!

I am semi-retired and food seemed to pair well with my new hobby of collecting wine. I took a few classes based on themes and recipes. I needed to learn the principles of cooking, the why we do what we do, rather than more recipes. Knowing how and why allows me to create things with what is in the kitchen and not totally rely on a recipe.
The video lessons on Rouxbe will help you take your cooking to the next level.

Continuing Education

I am a self taught home chef, that has been wondering around kitchens from the day I could walk. My mom and Julia Childs taught me the basics when I was just a kid.

I have always been passionate about food and am looking forward to this site to teach me some new things as well as refresh what I already know. Thanks Rouxbe!

Francisca B

Always learning!!

Hi, I´m Francisca and I love to be a self taugh in almost everything. Having some other people around makes me feel a little intimidate. I have always wanted to be a good chef for my family and friends at my host home.
Thanks Rouxbe

Rouxbe will save my marriage!

I just got married 6 months ago and my wife was shocked to learn that I couldn't cook. I just had never learned. She actually nominated me for Food Network's "Worst Cook in America"! That's how bad it was.

Thank God I found this site. I'm devouring it (ha!) and yesterday, I cooked three pork steaks without destroying them! That's huge!

Thank you so much for this gift of a website!

Andrea L

No more I'm not hungry mom, hello seconds please!

I've been married going on 6 yrs now with 3 kids and I'm burnt out on all the dinners that don't get frowned on. It seems like the recipes i've tryed with great reviews are never as good as they sound. I used to love cooking but now its the pits, but now I have some confidence again knowing that real people are going to teach me when I want.

Old fashion cook

I say old fashion cook becouse I lived with my mother-n-law for many years and she taught me alot of older recipie's.My husband does not like alot of change with his meal's he is deffinatly a meat and potato guy.The one thing i am enjoying about Rouxbe is the steps i have been missing in my main meals and learning how to make stocks is so gonna help me to were i wont have to be in the kitchen all day long ,i realy dont mind but i do have 3 children also i need to tend with i am looking forward to the new things i can add to my main meals and perhaps sneak some new recipie's in on my husband :)

Johnny H

an aspiring home cook

I have always loved to dapple in the kitchen and consider myself at least somewhat capable (at least according to the better half).

I enjoy experimenting with whatever is in the pantry, freezer or fridge but realize that with proper technical skills the output might be more "desirable". - So, here I am:-)

Really looking forward to digging in and can't wait to build this as my creative outlet far away from everyday office life.

JP - PA Restaurant Owner

Good morning everyone,
I don't fall victim to online ads that encourage one to purchase a subscription. However, when I first saw Rouxbe and then tried the site for 14 days, I was amazed at what I saw. I am extremely excited about the program. I have attended a cooking instructional school. This is a much better program. I look forward to working with this program everyday.

Thanks Rouxbe and staff for a job well done....

When the student is ready, the teacher appears!

Man am I lucky to find this site. I googled how to cut an onion, landed on reluctant gourmet's site and saw Rouxbe's video. The next thing you know, I've signed myself up. I love this site. Its fresh, clean, and just what I'm looking for and the prize is the e-learning environment. My food is good, but my technical skills need ratcheting up a notch. I cannot tell you how excited I am. I'm calling all my friends tomorrow so they can join too.

Thanks Rouxbe staff for a job well done. I'm pulling out my iphone and ipad so I can get you on the go as well.

Rouxbe rocks!!!

I am so excited about learning more through Rouxbe. I'm on my 1st week and did not know 1/2 of the stuff I watched on the videos...like picking out choice beef cuts!!! I am sooo yester-year!! Needed this website very much! Now my family has a chance at eating delicious meals that I've prepared!!!

Yaseen E

Cooking in middle age

Dear team,

My name is Yaseen from Tripoli Libya, got interested in this program through our Facebook friends Foodies and have signed up. Through the years one learnt how to depend on ones own skills in cooking, especially when one is in very remote places like here in Libya, especially in the desert. My passion for taste is growing, and my passion to eat food in places like on top of a sand dune or next to an oasis really does wonders to the type of food that is being prepared . Also a passion comes through when one is cooking for the children and the family. Thats mostly fun food full of goodness. I am sure i will enjoy reading and viewing the videos from you, and thank you for the free trial, and hope to continue.

Family Affair

I became a lifetime member last year and my adult daughter just joined as a lifetime member as well. We have rotating Sunday Dinners and having so much fun trying new techniques, recipes and comparing information that we learned from Rouxbe.

I wish I had Rouxbe years ago but glad I found this site when I did. Myself and my family will benefit from what I learn for years to come.

It's funny, before Rouxbe I considered myself a VERY good cook. In fact, I was just a good cook with limited style and variety. There is so much more to learn and I love the way Rouxbe keeps me coming back for more.

Completing The Circle

Hello all,
I am a mother of a teenager and trying to excite and satisfy a hearty rebellious picky eater........... Has truly been a different TRiP.
I luv to cook, bake and make different meals every night. I was confident in my cooking (I still am) but, I just realized having the "correct" set of "sharpened" tools in the kitchen make my cooking THE BEST!!!!!
Also, I became stuck in a rut with the same meals. Using the same ingredients and preparing them the same way.
Now, I have ventured past my culture, upbringing and comfort zone to experience and enjoy new, fresh and different meals. Veggies, spices and seasonings have never been so enjoyable.
ROUXBE SCHOOL/INSTRUCTORS.........THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING THE GREAT ONLINE SCHOOL THAT HAS BROADEN MY COOKING SKILLS TO NEW HEIGHTS. I Am Living A Dream!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to the day...

My husband and I will celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary in a few days... I'm hoping that after a few months (or more) with Rouxbe, he will finally be able to say I'm a good cook!
