If you really want to learn how to cook, then you need to practice the concepts taught in this lesson. We've compiled some "edible exercises" along with some supporting recipes that will help reinforce what was taught in this lesson.
Following the method for pan frying, cook two eggs any way you like them. Pay close attention to when the whites set. If cooking over-easy, over-medium or over-hard, try pan-flipping them but remember, this takes quite a bit of practice so don’t worry if it doesn’t work out perfectly the first few times. You can always use a spatula.
Next, practice basting a couple of eggs. Set a timer and note how long it takes to cook the eggs to your liking. Try not to peek too much, as you’ll allow the steam to escape from the pan and the eggs will take longer than necessary to cook.
Follow either method in Topic 4 and poach a couple of eggs to your liking. Serve on warm toast with some salt and pepper...or take it up a notch and make your favorite eggs benny.
Use your newly-learned egg cooking skills and try a few of the recipes below (you can choose to fry or baste the eggs for the Huevos Motuleños or the Croque Madame). By knowing how to properly cook eggs, you’ll be able to quickly put a meal together anytime.
