Hey everyone! I'm 29yo, live with my "put you a pre-made supermarket pie in the oven and call it making you dinner" partner and work short stretches of long hours for the Ambulance Service. I love food, period. All the time. When I was young I was so fussy, ate the same thing all the time, picked at my food. When I was at Uni I worked part time at a Deli/Patisserie and over time my taste buds became used to more and more flavours and now I just can't stop. When I was little my aunt would give me loads of bottles of shampoo and bath products and during my bath I would try and concoct my own shampoo that my aunt would wash my hair with at the end. That's cooking for me, I just love to play. I'm not particularly efficient, mind, and I do make one hell of a mess! Even simple things, I spend too much time over everything, lose track of time! I spend hours in the kitchen and it flies by! Today for instance I've done nothing but combe this website, look online for an ice cream maker and watch the food channel. The kitchen still needs cleaned from yesterday's experiments and my partner will be home from work soon to crack the whip. YIKES! Better get cleaning and put the beef bourgignon cottage pie in the oven lol!

Unfortunately, because I work such long shifts it can be difficult to eat properly and devote time to cooking in the middle of a shift cycle and I find planning ahead difficult.

I'm the kind of person who'd get potato starch and flour all over himself and the cupboard door handles in no time at all, get all flustered because I can't find something amongst all the products I've got out and left the bottle lids off. As you can imagine I run out of worktop space VERY quickly. I still haven't mastered the concept of mise en place just yet so if you forum moderators wanna give the messy pup in the kitchen some tips and tricks to make him more organized then feel free!
