For my wedding anniversary dinner I ordered a delicious filet mignon au poivre. This was not my first time eating this dish, but this was the moment I realized I NEED to learn how to make this.
Researching and practicing steak au poivre led me to also start making french onion soup. After getting a pretty good feel for these two recipes I started researching other foods to make.
Before I made anything else I began to see common motifs in recipes. And that's when I felt that there was something more than just following. Something beyond recipes.
Proper cooking technique was what I had been searching for all along.
