I am a 25 year old economist, and in recent years I've gradually become more and more impressed with the power of food. It is not only a personal joy, but it is possible to share the end result with friends and family. It is one of the fundamental skillsets needed to survive - the ability to make food. Though, nowadays, people learn to cook from the backside of products they buy at the supermarket, or from straight recipes. That is not enough for me any more, but at some point I hit a wall where recipes were the only thing that would really take me forward in making food, not my own abilities and creativity. The reason, I have found, is my lack of basic skills and techniques when it comes to preparing food and also knowledge about flavor.
I want to change this to be able to offer culinary joy to friends and family in the future, as well as being able to kick start my future children about cooking at a much earlier time than I was able to.
