Bouquet garni is simply a bundle of herbs and/or spices that are added to a recipe during cooking. A common French bouquet garni consists of parsley, thyme, bay leaf and peppercorns. Much like a tea bag, bouquet garni is used to flavor liquids in recipes such as soup, stock and stews.
