I'm a PhD student currently living in Switzerland (hailing originally from the US), and lucky enough to be able to hop over to Paris occasionally for amateur cooking classes. I started cooking in earnest while living in Switzerland -- mostly because it is so prohibitively expensive to eat in restaurants. I first learned to cook while living in Japan and many of my fall-back meals are quick, homey Japanese dishes. I'm always on the lookout for a new ingredient or interesting flavor combination I haven't tried before!
