A variety of flavorful liquids can be used to make a brine. Items such as cider, beer, wine, rice wine vinegar, vinegar, tea and fruit juices can be added to the brining solution to infuse flavor into the meat. Depending on the liquid and how strong of a flavor it has, you can either use it full strength or substitute part of the water in the brine for it.
