Question:
Can you share any hints for cooking for one without freezing extra servings?
— Cynthia Shaner
Answer:
The one thing that I suggest to a lot of students is that if you're just cooking for one person. Divide the recipe in half now you might have to use a calculator to do so, but divide the recipe in half the yield that you get will be enough for you and you won't have too much to freeze because I I would probably eat both of the servings in the same few days and you know food will keep up for up to five days in your refrigerator. If it's well kept good containers looking into glass containers or containers that have burpable tops. There are some good silicone containers or silicone bags, and I've been reading a lot now Cynthia where people are just using Freezer bags to freeze their things and what they do is they fill it and then they flatten it and let the air out and they slept they free something that looks sort of like this. It's just a little bad rather than having a bulky containers from you can stack them in your freezer a couple of years ago. I convinced my husband that we needed to have a refrigerated ahead of freezer on the bottom with a pullout drawer because I thought it would be so wonderful. And sometimes I think we're a little compromised on Space because I do find myself running out of freezer space. So I totally understand where you're coming from.
