Question:

What is the best order of tasks in Mise en place, that is what tasks should be done first, second, third and so on? What is the most efficient physical set up, in other words, what should go where in your work space?

— Tammy Flolid

Answer:

You know, these implos is basically all everything kind of at its place and it's basically, you know, kind of little Bulls all set as you need them. So let's just say you're doing a stir fry right? So in your stir fry you might start off with your onions, maybe Ginger and mushrooms, right? So I would typically put those amazing plus kind of Closer to My Pan because they're right next to it. I can grab it and instantly pour into it and then I'm gonna go and sequential order right next to that. So if after my mushrooms and my onions and my Ginger I want to do my garlic or my peppers. I might put those next into it and then something like I don't know maybe we'll do our Bach showing next or something like that. So each one that I'm adding into it, you know, it's going to be kind of going in the pattern away from the pan some people like to do it the opposite way where the thing that they're putting in first as far as the way so they can just grab it on the outside pour it in as the pain is starting to heat up as they go and then have the last ingredient right next to their pain. So just right there and easy to pour into it's just really a matter of preference though. What? Don't advise having them kind of all mixed up everywhere because then you have to take the time to figure out. Okay, where in the process was this? So I've also seen them, you know, like I'll typically put like, you know, like the the ginger the onion and the mushroom kind of like stacked right next to each other, you know, and then put the next ingredients kind of right next to it like that. I've seen other people just line it up in a row so just goes all across their counter, you know, so it's like this is my first ingredient. Here's my second and it's just really easy to kind of go through each one of those but that's just really a personal preference on each one of those the important part is, you know, exactly where each one and what sequence the reason plus is set up into but beyond that it's a complete personal preference to whatever works for you.
