Question:

Can the bean broth also be saved and used like vegetable broth in soups or in any other cooking needs?

— YVONNE TETREAULT

Answer:

The quick answer is yes. Um, you know, for, uh, uh, the bean water, uh, there's often, uh, more residual, um, uh, carbohydrates from the beans and, um, you know, these longer chain saccharides that, um, can be a concern for some folks, uh, usually in terms of flatulence. Um, but, um, I have used bean water myself. And, um, I, I know folks that, uh, that do. And, um, you know, so, you know, you can, when you're cooking beans, you can add things like, um, uh, asfa, for example, or eso. There are probably some like kombu. Uh, these are ingredients that are said to reduce, um, the incidence of, uh, flatulence, uh, resulting from beans. And in this case, that would probably affect the bean water to some extent as well. But, um, um, this would, uh, vary from person to person, uh, of course. Okay. But, uh, experiment and see what you come up with. Thank you.
