Question:
Should I boil things like nuts or beans if I am pressed for time and can't soak overnight? And for how long?
— Paul Delva
Answer:
I'm the kind of person who, uh, wishes that the world was run by a microwave because I like to get things done. So what I would do is open up that bag of beans. I would sort them out first to make sure that there aren't any pebbles or anything in them because, um, uh, that can happen. And then I would cover them with, uh, hot water and might even just put, I have, I have bigger ones of these. I would cover them with water to the very top, and then I would put it in the microwave for about 10 minutes. And I think that will kind of give you the texture that you would like. That's what I do. It works for me. Um, I say, um, for you, Chris, that, um, I'm sorry Paul, that, um, batch cooking is going to be your best friend because if you batch cook, you'll never be in a hurry and you'll always have what you want. But that's a very good question. Beans beans will take 10 days to cook if you don't soak them. At least that's my, my experience. So thank you. Uh, overnight is good. Oh, you can't soak overnight. Well, overnight is the ideal, but 15 minutes in the microwave, uh, then rinse someone, you take them out of the microwave and then get ready to make your soup or your casserole or whatever it's that you're going to make.
