What is the best way to clean and chop leeks?

Answer:
Oh, this is a great question about leaks. There are so many different ways, but the, the moral of the story is that you want to get the sand out. When I cook leaks, I like to slice them down the center and then I squirt that high pressure shower on my, uh, faucet here in the kitchen and get as much sand out as I can. But I've washed them three or four times and I have to say that, uh, my leak salads and, uh, sauteed leak have been sand free. So I think that that, um, works, um, for me. Uh, so down the middle wash heavily do it three times.
