Question:
What are the top 3 things we need to teach families in our communities about getting healthier in the kitchen cooking?
— Deborah Sailler
Answer:
I think one of the major things you need to tell them is that it's less expensive when you cook at home. It is less expensive and you are getting more nutrition. And that children that cook at home and are exposed to healthy food at home actually practice that after they leave the home. So it's really teaching their child a, a behavior like good sleeping habits, um, good habits, doing your homework. There's this, that's the same when it comes to cooking. So we have decrease in price, we have teaching your child habits for life or a healthy life. And then the third one is really about how the food that one chooses can really affect their health in a major way. And that they don't have to make changes all at once. They can make one small step at a time, and I'm gonna throw another one in there. You also want them to know that you're not gonna change their palettes, that you're gonna work within their cultural traditions in the likes and dislikes of food that they have. And you're gonna take them on a journey one step at a time. Those would be my four top points in community messaging as well as tasty, tasty food. Cook it and they will come, is what I say.
