Question:
I’m planning to make a soup using lupini beans. Should I remove the skin from the beans before I add them?
— Carlene McIntyre
Answer:
This is gonna be, uh, really 100% a a personal, uh, decision, uh, depending on, on your preferred aesthetic, okay? Whether it's a mouthfeel, uh, or the, the visual, uh, aesthetic that you prefer. Um, I mean, generally speaking, there's nothing wrong that I can think of, uh, of leaving skins, beans skins in, uh, a food item, whether it's garbanzo beans or lima beans or something else. Uh, you know, for most people, most of the time, um, there may be exceptions, uh, in the way that some people react, uh, to, uh, beans skins. But by and large, it's gonna be totally up to you. I recommend trying it both ways. Leave it in, remove it, compare the results, and, uh, see what you prefer. And, uh, you know, give it some, uh, analytical thought, uh, and come up with reasons why you like it a certain way or why you don't like it a certain way. Okay? Rather just rather than just saying, eh, you know, just because, um, I think it's good to push ourselves to a deeper understanding of our relationship with food. It only makes our cooking better. Okay? So give that a try. Thank you. All right.
