Question:

How do you keep chipmunks out of your garlic plants?

— Dr K Kimmel

Answer:

I have never had an issue with this. Maybe it's because chipmunks up here have so much else to get after. Uh, so I'm wondering if it's, if it actually chipmunks are maybe voles that you've got. 'cause voles I know can be, uh, pretty annoying for garlic farmers in that they basically disrupt the ing of it more so than eat it because, well, nothing really eats garlic because of that high Allison and listen, uh, content to it. So I'm curious if chipmunks are actually getting after your garlic, because I'm, I, I, we, yeah, as I said, we got plenty, plenty of chipmunks around here, more so than I wish for because, well, you know what? They just kind of really annoying early in the morning when they're just out there doing that chip sound, chip, chip, chip, chip chip. Anyway, I try not to get annoyed at nature being nature. So chipmunks, we love you. Uh, so voles, you know, I don't know, but, uh, I, I, hmm, the only thing I would think to do is maybe, uh, spread some used cat litter around the boxes as a perimeter. Uh, I think that might work better than other predator, uh, or maybe fox Urine, uh, is a common commonly sold at, you know, you go to ace and true value and get that in concentrated form. Beware when you open it. Uh, but using that as a perimeter spray, uh, can often keep, uh, small rodents away. I mean, that is its purpose. So I would think about it that way. And also those natural things tend not to disrupt the organic nature or the, uh, the goodness in your soil. So there you go. Uh, other than that, then of course there's the rather less humane ways of setting some traps relocating, if you will. Uh, but yeah, curious about that. Never had any issues.
