Question:

If I was to start growing micro greens (sprouting) do you have any recommendations?

— Peter Bulley

Answer:

Jump on in, uh, and just start sprouting stuff. Okay. It, it, most things will sprout pretty easily. Um, environmentally, uh, it's gonna be, uh, affected by the temperature. So some of these things can, uh, sprout and, and really take off overnight, uh, or even just after, uh, a few hours, uh, in a warm environment, such as, uh, during, uh, a summer day. But, uh, during the wintertime, things can slow down. You might require, you know, three or four days, um, to really get some, some, some tails to, uh, to poke out. And, and if you want some longer sprouts, um, just be patient and, and let the, the grain or the legume, you know, that you're working with or, or other seeds, uh, do their thing. Um, uh, you know, here at home, we're usually sprouting something, uh, each week. And, you know, very often it's a, it's a lentil, um, uh, and then secondarily a grain of some sort. But, um, you know, we'll let that item soak, um, usually overnight, uh, to get some, some good hydration going, and then, uh, uh, cut the water or strain the water, and then, we'll, we'll tie it up in a, uh, in a light cotton linen, and just kind of bring the corners up and tie it so you have this big bunch down here. And then, uh, we'll hang, hang that in the kitchen with a bowl underneath the catch, uh, dripping water. And, um, you know, on a, probably just once a day, you can, uh, wet that whole bundle. Uh, and then again, just let it hang and, and let excess water drip and just, uh, kind of keep it, um, moisturized. And then before long, you'll see sprouts. Uh, it, it really is about that easy. Uh, you might try that out, you know, with that very simple set of, um, uh, equipment, really just a, a towel, uh, and, and a bowl to catch some water, and, uh, see how it goes for you. There is some more specialized equipment that you, you know, can buy. Um, you might find that, uh, you don't need it. Um, I'll leave that up to you. But, uh, yeah, give it a try. I think you'll, uh, enjoy the fruits of your labor.
