Question:

Do you have any suggestions for how to keep food warm once it's been plated?

— Diane Kirschner

Answer:

Heat your dishes is probably the best suggestion I would give to you. So, um, a a lot you'll find this at most restaurants, they actually will have steam trays. You know, that basically it's this big kind of a bin that they keep all their plates in, and it's a steamer that keeps all their, their, um, all, all their plates piping hot. So when they plate them, of course the salad plates are the opposite. They're chilled. Um, but if they're the plate is hot and it's steamed ahead of time, it's, it's gonna keep the food and the plate warmer much, much longer. If you're putting a hot entree right onto a cold plate, it instantly starts to cool down very fast. So you can microwave, you know, things. I've seen people put like, you know, damp cloths in the microwave with, uh, plates before to be able to make a little steam effect on that too. I've seen 'em in ovens, but they can get really hot in ovens. So be careful if you're doing that. But, um, you know, finding a way that you can actually heat your plates at home, great, great way to be able to do that. So I think that's probably your best bet is start by heating up your plates, um, and making sure they're not too hot, but they'll actually stay warm in your, your food will be warm until your last bite.
