Question:
Remind us why this is called “Forks Over Knives”?
— Nancy Calkins
Answer:
So, um, t Campbell, professor Emeritus of Nutrition at Cornell University wrote a book called The China Study, uh, lo and behold, in Santa Monica, California, um, Brian Weell read the book, and he was so inspired by reading the book that he wrote and produced a movie called Forks Over Knives, the Fork being the Fork and the Knife being a Scalpel. And that following the hippocratic belief that, um, food as medicine can be a cure. Uh, Brian set forth to produce this wonderful, wonderful movie, which, uh, its Director's Cut came out in 2010, and, um, it's just a wonderful movie. And then I guess through, uh, the, the success and excitement around the movie, uh, they partnered with us here at Rouxbe. And, um, forks Over Knives has a particular, um, fondness or attention to people who might want to prevent and reverse heart disease. And so that's what forks over knives means. And, um, uh, the movie is very, very, I'm very fond of the movie. Um, I have an emotional investment in the movie and the course. And, uh, that was a great question, Nancy. That was another great question. I, I'm also proud to say that when you watch the movie, and I hope you'll watch it till the very end, because in the special thanks and recognition part, it says, thanks to Charlene Nolan, and that's because I wrote the prospectus for the national rollout of the movie at Whole Foods Market, and it remains one of the most exciting things that I have ever done before. And so, read the China study, read as much as you can, it forks over knives. And just remember that we are always here for you to answer any questions that you might have.
