Question:

Looking to get some new pans. Do you recommend Caraway ceramic or stainless steel? Or are there other brands to look at, that you recommend?

— April Nichols

Answer:

Um, wow, you know, I don't know, caraway, um, brand. Uh, so I cannot speak to those. Um, hmm. This is a, a good question. Yeah. You know, I, uh, well, will first say that, uh, there are, you know, many, um, call them good. You know, they, they function well. You know, uh, uh, cookware brands out there. Um, part of this question, there are always variables, right? Again, I love cooking. I love kitchen work because it's never as easy as it looks. Uh, when it comes to, uh, to cookware, uh, there's price to consider. Um, you can spend thousands of dollars, um, on cookware that comes from the store. Uh, you can spend, um, a lot less than that, uh, on, on a cookware that performs very, very well. Okay. And, um, um, let's see here. Also, consider the weight of the cookware. Uh, some cookware is, uh, pretty heavy when it's empty. And then think about loading it up with 2, 3, 4, 5 pounds of food. Is that something that you can comfortably and safely handle? And, uh, for some people that's fine. For others, it becomes very uncomfortable, uh, in which case you wanna be judicious about, uh, the cookware that you select, as well as the size of the cookware that you need, um, relative to, um, the volume of cooking, um, that you'll, you know, that you need to do. Okay? Um, you know, I'll provide, uh, a a couple of ideas to consider. Um, and this is just scratching the surface, okay? Please understand that. Um, you know, one is the, the, the hinkles. Uh, you know, Hinkles is known for their, uh, cutlery, uh, but they also have, um, uh, some cookware out there. And I know at least one line out there that I've seen, um, is, is quite fine. It's stainless steel and, um, you know, they all have bonded bottoms, you know, layers of aluminum or aluminum and copper to more evenly conduct heat because stainless steel, uh, doesn't necessarily, uh, conduct heat so evenly across the bottom of the pan. Um, let's see, uh, another one over the years that I've, I've seen, but I haven't looked lately. Okay. But, uh, this was some time ago was at Costco, and it was the Kirkland brand stainless steel set. And, you know, the price was an eec, uh, a pretty accessible, you know, just a little bit over a hundred bucks for a, a set. And they were of, uh, pretty good quality, uh, as well. Um, and, uh, I mean, that's a, you know, just a couple things to consider, but again, there are many, many to choose from. Uh, ideally you're gonna go to a store, you know, like Williams Sonoma, like Costco, and, uh, get your hands on them and feel them and, um, uh, you know, have that input, uh, be part of your decision making process.
