Question:
Is there any ways to make carrot oil with carrot trimmings?
— Jimmy Luong
Answer:
Yeah, there absolutely is. So you can just take your carrot trimmings, um, after you've peeled them basically, and you want to basically, you know, uh, chop them up as much as possible and then you can cook them down with any oil that you want. What you're basically doing is a, a carrot infusion into the oil. So probably the most popular one to do a carrot oil would probably be coconut oil. So you can just basically cook down the carrot into your coconut oil and then strain it through a sieve, um, into a jar so you're not getting into the carrot pieces in there. Your oil will end up turning orange and also have the flavor profiles of that, uh, carrot as well. Um, you'll still get some of the nutrients that are out of that as well, um, but it's not going to be, you know, like I wouldn't be cooking with like a carrot oil, you know, to expect a lot of carrot flavor out of it depending on the dish you're using. Um, but it is a very, you know, common thing to be able to do to infuse oils with other vegetables or other flavors as well.
