Question:

How much is too much fruit and what fruits if any should be avoided or limited?

— Donita Andrews

Answer:

So two to three cups of fruit a day is where you should really stay. And the fruits that should be limited or avoided are those if you're suffering from any of those ailments I talked about, right? If there's a problem with your kidney, if you have irritable bowel syndrome or oral allergy syndrome or latex allergy, then you wanna think about the types of fruit. So that would be the reason I would avoid or limit fruit. And I'm just gonna go on top of that for a second 'cause I know several of you asked about do I need to eat fruit by itself? Because if I eat fruit with something else, it's gonna rotten my stomach. It's not gonna rotten your stomach. Our bodies don't work that way. So you don't eat need to eat fruit separately from other meals unless you the individual you has trouble when you have fruit with something else. There's the individual, there's the rule and then there's the individual, right? So I always respect an individual's reaction to food and what their body's telling them. That always trumps what the science says. So the science says you've got such an acidic environment in your stomach that nothing's gonna ferment, number one, and the you have protein or you have fats, that's a completely different enzymes to break those down. So it's not gonna affect your ability to break down the sugar and the fruit. So you can food combine unless you feel better when you don't.
