Question:

Is there a natural and healthy way to sweeten a jam?

— Kristin T. Østrem

Answer:

I really wish I could tell you yes on this. I've tried and tried and tried and tried and I've gotten used to a thinner jam. So I make this red pepper jelly jam, um, with chilies in it about once a year and it lasts all year. And I don't really care that it's not thick. Um, it, it's kind of like in the middle of thick and a liquid and I've gotten used to it, but no, what what, what you need for jam is it, it's again, that's like a formula. You need this amount of sugar with this amount of fruit, um, in order for it to, and this amount of pectin in order for it to congeal. So you don't need a lot of jam.
