Question:

For a beginner to cooking and for plant based/whole food meals, please go over the best skillet to buy and any other essential pots, pans and utensils one would need to begin. Brands would be helpful. ?

— MARK RAPPAPORT

Answer:

So I'm gonna preface the question by saying that I have, uh, a set of pots and pans that my parents gave to me when I was married 4,000 years ago in the last century. It really was the last century, and they are farberware. And at the time the farberware stainless steel were made in America, and they remain in my cabinet using them regularly. I say, if you are not sure what you wanna do for stainless steel, you can do one of two things. One would be to go to a thrift shop and pick up a couple of used stainless steel saute pans and see if you like them. And then the other thing is, this is not my gladiator shield. Uh, this pan here is called a caraway pan. It has a high heavy duty ceramic inside to it. It's a fabulous saute pan. It cleans very, very easily. It sauteed beautifully. I am enamored with this pan, and since receiving it as a gift last Christmas, I very, very rarely use my stainless steel pans. So you might want to look into caraway. This is my own opinion, this is my own recommendation. Caraway, as in the seed that you see in rye bread. Uh, I would stand cautious of prices that are relatively low, where the, the company has you believing that it's a high quality pan, but the reality is that they're really cheap and they're gonna fall apart or lose their, uh, film or whatever. So excuse me for this noise for one second. So caraway is my favorite, and the my old farberware pots, uh, still work terrifically. And I am of the belief that we don't always have to get new things for new projects.
