Question:
What does a bay leaf actually add to a dish? How can we decide whether to add one or not?
— Deborah Tormey
Answer:
I cannot taste the difference to Bay Leaf to anything I cook. So I did a little digging before this, um, presentation and what experts say is that it's very, well we all already knew this. It's a very, very subtle flavor. It's clove like floy tea, like, and some say that you might not actually taste anything different, but if you don't put it in, you'll taste a difference. I did not. And so if you don't, you don't need to put it in. There are so many spices that you don't have to rely on the bay leaf. So, um, and people, again, this is my palette. This is Debbie's palette talking to Debra's palate. Maybe our pals just don't really jive with Bay Leaf. Um, but we know that there's a whole bunch of them out there.
