Question:
How long can you keep dried spices and herbs and still count on their impact?
— Diane Kirschner
Answer:
It really depends on where you store them. So as long as you store them away from heat, so not above the stove and a cool dry place, they can last for months. Um, I would still say lum them or toum to just revive their flavors. Um, but the important thing is how long has that spice been in that bottle that you buy? So that's why it's important to make sure that you source, um, from a place that there's a big turnaround and that the spices aren't there. If you see a layer of like dust or Ys on top, then you wanna make sure that you go to a different place. So that is one of the things. And for herbs, they can last up to a week, uh, in your fridge. Although basil doesn't go in the fridge, uh, when you can wrap them in some paper towel and, um, keep the air, air from them.
