Question:
Are there scenarios where both adding salt while cooking and finishing with salt are a healthy with to cook?
— Michael Baun
Answer:
You know, I think that if, uh, uh, one has a concern about the, the, uh, the added salt right to their cooking, then simply be aware, uh, however you do that, whether it's measuring it out ahead of time as per of your mis plus and not exceeding that, um, or otherwise, you know, kind of keep a, an eye on how you use the salt during your cooking, whether it's, again, during the cooking process or just in addition afterwards. And, you know, I think you can manage it at that point, at, at a, you know, whatever might be considered healthy for you. Okay? Now, the difference is, okay, between these two approaches, if you're adding salt multiple times during the cooking process, then the salt has an opportunity to, to be absorbed, uh, you know, into the components of the food and, and to sort of marry with all the other flavors in the pot. And arguably, you're gonna get a more balanced end result compared to waiting to the end and just adding the salt prior to service, uh, where it's all gonna be on the surface of the food, and it's gonna be a slightly different palate effect. Some people may notice that more than others. Again, it, it will depend upon the, uh, individual consumer. Um, but, uh, again, in terms of a healthful approach to, to moderating salt use, you can go either way, I would say. Um, but it's gonna be up to you to, uh, keep track of how much salt you use.
