Question:
What would be the key message I could bring to a workshop for menopausal women? I have a lot of ideas, and want to pair it down.
— Anna Marie Trotman
Answer:
Yeah, I, um, you know, I would check out Neil Bernard has, um, I think his latest book, uh, I, he's written many, many books, so I'm not a hundred percent sure, but his latest book was, uh, about hormonal, um, impacts of, of food on hormones and so forth. And he is done quite a lot of research, uh, the physicians' committee, uh, on, uh, menopause. And, uh, I'd say one of the, so I would check that out as well, because, um, there are, there are recipes in his books as well, and you might find that, uh, helpful. Um, the, but the, the thing that pops into my mind first and foremost is, you know, in addition to a, to a nutrient dense, high fiber, low fat way of eating is not to be, you know, to debunk the fears and the myths around soy, uh, for, for menopause, uh, for women going through menopause that have been, you know, the old, old information that has now been completely debunked and discredited, uh, to make women afraid. And men, for that matter, afraid of eating soy. Uh, whole soy. I am not talking about highly processed soy, but, you know, uh, edamame, tofu, Tempe, soy milk, uh, eating these, uh, very beneficial foods, uh, can actually, uh, protect us from, uh, different cancers and also, uh, you know, uh, mitigate the, the, uh, hormonal impacts of, uh, of hot flashes and all the rest of it that goes along with menopause. So, um, that's, that's what pops to my mind first and foremost, Using Jane Selten's book, uh, because she does, um, focus on menopause for women, and as Kathy said, debunks many of the myths. And then the other thing is that if you were going to make a dessert, I would definitely go to France book, which I believe you have. And, uh, Fran has very good solid information in this book as well.
