Question:

My gluten free daughter also cannot tolerate oats, which are often used in gluten free baking. Suggestions for substitutes?
— Terri Willner
Answer:
Yes, oats are often used and um, there are other things that you can use cherry and everyone else. I put a link to a really terrific article, um, from Bob's Red Mill that says, if you can't have oats, if you can't tolerate oats, so for some people oats be get contaminated with gluten when they're growing or when they're stored. That's one of the problems. So you wanna try an oat that is certified gluten-free, but there is a protein in oats that some people, a significant number of people who are gluten-free can't tolerate. I would substitute rice flour, coconut flour, nut flour and they should work fine. So why don't you have a look Terry at the article and see if it will give you some more guidance.
