Question:

I’m hoping to make pizza dough and was wondering if I could freeze some of the dough in mason jars instead of plastic bags. Also how long would I let it rise from frozen?
— Sue Baker
Answer:
So the first thing that you have to think about is what size is your dough ball going to be? And that even if you had a wide mouth jar, uh, it might not, this is a mini wide mouth jar. It might not fit in there. I only had a small one left, 'cause the other one's holding flowers today. So what I'm going to suggest is, and I have a million of these, these are ceramic bowls and they have a top on here. And I have lined this with a piece of parchment paper so that you would put your dough bowl in here and you would cover this up and then put it in your freezer. And when you are ready to use it, you're going to put it in your refrigerator as it is and let it thaw for 12 hours overnight. So the dough will still be very, very good. It might lose some of it elasticity, but it will work. My other suggestion is that maybe you could take the dough and do a partial bake on the crust and then freeze those however you like, that might be a little bit easier and less time consuming for you. So yes, you could do it, do it in your refrigerator to thaw for those 12 hours. And then I say, have a great and delicious pizza.
