Question:

Can you share any tips on how to stick to a weekly menu?
— Liria Robles
Answer:
Staying on a plan. And I think that this is where I say to everyone, do your best, because sometimes we have lofty goals for ourselves. When I was a coach at engine two, back in the beginnings of Rip Selten's, uh, presence on the internet, I would always say to people, do your best. Make what you know. So it's not a time to think about extravagant kinds of menus to make, but something simple. And what I find very helpful is a calendar that might look something like this that has days of the week. It's got a little space here that I use for a grocery list, I don't think lofty. I think what I've batch cooked, if I have made five Japanese sweet potatoes and they are in the refrigerator, I know that they're gonna be a really easy meal to make, and all I need to do is heat one or eat it cold and maybe put some salsa on it and have a grain and a big salad, and I'm good to go. So it doesn't mean that you have to cook every single night, which might take a lot of time from the busy day that you may have had. So I suggest to first make your list of what you plan to eat during the week, and then draw a grocery list from that. And that seems to work really well. And if in fact you end up going to get a salad at Chipotle, but it's not what was on your list, it's not the worst thing that's going to happen because you managed to get their tofu sofrito and it was actually very, very good. So be gentle with yourself, make what you like.
