Question:

Would the Rouxbe Professional Chef course help me to get a job as a culinary chef if I've already received a diploma in Culinary Arts?
— Gaurav Mitra
Answer:
So, um, this is, uh, an interesting question, uh, you know, without knowing, uh, further details about your situation, Gav. But, um, I'll go ahead and, and share some thoughts of course that come to my mind. And I'm reading Advanced Diploma in Culinary Arts, um, six or so years ago. And, um, my guess is that this education focused on the cuisine side of the kitchen versus baking and pastry. And, um, you know, I don't know the duration, uh, of, of your course, but, um, uh, with my familiarity is that if it's a diploma course, it's probably in the neighborhood of a year or so, uh, in duration. So our, uh, pro, uh, professional Cook certification course, I call it PROCO for short, um, focuses on the cuisine or the savory side of the kitchen. And we have, um, a, a plant-based course. In addition, we have some baking and pastry courses, uh, as well. And so my impression is that our, um, pro Cook course would overlap significantly with your experience with your advanced diploma in culinary arts. Um, I also wanna mention, uh, a couple of things. Our Pro Cook course, uh, is based upon originally, uh, an on ground, you know, culinary, uh, diploma program, you know, of about, uh, you know, eight or nine months duration. So that, you know, fits the bill very often for a one year-ish, um, culinary, you know, diploma program. And, uh, what I would encourage you to do is take a look at, uh, Rouxbe.com and click on the individual courses. You'll see the, a couple of buttons, uh, to, to click on. And then, uh, toward the top of the page there, you'll see the Professional Cook Certification course. Go ahead and click into that and take a look at the, uh, the, the syllabus, right, or the table of contents right, of that course, and just read through all the topics that are covered. It's, it's, uh, it's extensive, but, um, see how it overlaps or not with your experience from 2019. And I think that'll give you a, a great starting point, um, you know, as to whether that particular course would, uh, you know, help you additionally, uh, in your career planning. Now, another thought that comes to mind is our pro plant course, our, our professional, uh, plant-based, uh, cooking course, uh, which is similar in duration. Um, it, it'll probably take you, you know, eight or so months to complete. And, uh, it's, it's our other long course here at Rouxbe, and we do have, uh, a number of students that go through that course. Uh, and then, you know, you know, with aspirations to do something professionally around food. And we have, uh, both students that are already in the industry that wanna get some experience, uh, you know, some insight to plant-based cooking, uh, as well as those that are new or, or sort of on their way to a new experience in the industry, uh, to work professionally with food. And so that one would I, you know, if you don't have a solid foundation in plant-based cookery, uh, that could be something for you to consider. Uh, thank you very much, uh, for that question, gura.
