For a first-timer with vegan desserts, what is a simple and almost fool-proof dish that you would suggest to make?

Answer:

What I have in this jar is my answer to you. It's chocolate pudding. And this recipe is called almost instant chocolate pudding. It's from my cookbook. And what it is is it's cocoa powder, corn star, some sugar, and a pinch of salt. And I just have to add liquid. This is a half recipe. I like having this around. Now some of you may be thinking chocolate pudding. What's so terrific about that? But I will tell you, I have had people literally cry when they've eaten this chocolate pudding. And, um, my friend and neighbor and colleague shook Kathy Gold, who has a very refined palette. I asked her what she wanted for her birthday thinking she would want a cake, and she wanted that chocolate pudding with aquafaba meringue burned on the top. So Robert, I would suggest people love chocolate pudding. I have many people in my life who want it to eat it warm can also serve it at room temperature. And if you put it in the freezer, it tastes like fudgesicles.
