Question:
Can you share any ideas on a tofu based burrito with very mild and minimal spices minimal spices?
— Mark Rappaport
Answer:
Yeah, I think first of all, choose a tofu, and you're gonna be aware of this already, uh, if you're eating tofu so frequently. But just choose a tofu that, um, uh, is in a, in a texture or a firmness, right? That, uh, suits your palate and the structure of the, um, burrito that you wanna make. There are, uh, you know, some, some very firm, like extra firm versions that, um, are very meaty in their consistency. And then, you know, when it comes to, uh, spices, uh, uh, here again, choose the cuisine that you want to use as your inspiration. And when I hear burrito, I think Mexico, so take a look at, uh, um, a Mexican cooking site. Uh, explore spices, spice combinations that are typical of Mexican cooking and start to experiment. And in terms of keeping it mild or, or, you know, minimal, uh, in its, in its heat, for example, you have full control of that regardless of what the recipe states. And I think you can bring together very easily. You know, things like, uh, cumin and coriander and chilies of different, uh, types. And some of these, um, are hot. Some of them, uh, are a lot less hot than others. And then when it comes to, you know, uh, the Mexican kitchen, the sauces or the salsas are very important. Excuse me a second. And this is where you can make, um, fresh varieties of salsa, uh, as well as cooked varieties. And they come in so many different styles. And, uh, again, you can take a look at, uh, some, you know, some, some at your fingertip resources to get, uh, some, like some quick ideas or quick, uh, specific, you know, recipe to follow, uh, to get you going. But that's, uh, that's one approach, right? And if you prefer tie flavor profile as your inspiration, take a look at Thai ingredients and make a Thai inspired burrito. Or it might be Indian or Korean or, you know, something else. Okay? Um, but I think there's a lot of potential out there when you're talking about tofu, right? Uh, with the ingredients that you have mentioned, veggies, legumes, sweet potatoes, and then just altering the flavor profile that you bring in to those ingredients.
