Question:
Can almond flour be made by simply grinding almonds (type?) very fine? If so, is 1 cup unground almond = to 1c ground?
— Diane Kirschner
Answer:
Very fine. Yes, you can do that in a food processor. You want to be careful because you can go from fine almond flour to almond butter, which is delicious, but not your intention at all. So, um, be careful about that. If I'm going to be using the almond flour in combination in a, in a dessert where there is some sugar, sometimes I'll put some of the sugar in as well. But I have used this morning, there are two different kinds of almond flour that I use. One is called fine, which is made from blanched almonds, which means that the dark skin of the almonds has been taken off. And I use that and, and that tends to be, you know, there are, there's different terminology for this today I made, let me show you, I had some bananas on my counter and I didn't wanna put them in the freezer and I made these wonderful banana muffins today and I was thinking, do we really does the world? This is what I wrote on my Instagram story. Does the world really need another banana muffin, vegan banana muffin? But I made some changes to a recipe of mine from years ago and I absolutely loved it and I used whole almond flour. Whereas when we make our drop biscuits in the course we, or when I make Mars upon, I use the blanched almond flour, one cup of unground almonds to one cup of ground, not necessarily get a scale. And you'll have to measure, I believe that you use more, you'll need more than a cup.
