Question:

Where do you recommend going to find cooking utensils/supplies?

— Jimmy Melton

Answer:

The first thing that always comes to mind for me, I guess because I come from the restaurant industry is to go to a local Cash and Carry sort of a restaurant supply store and and they go by different names. There is a chain of these stores in in the Northwest anyway, Washington and Oregon, for example that go by the name of Chef's store and they were originally established to serve small restaurant owners who don't want or really don't qualify for an account with one of the large distributors. and these stores are also open to the public and now they carry everything that a restaurant would use and so you're going to find some, you know, some things that have more of a A you know, utilitarian sort of look to them than a polished home look but they're very functional of course and the this is the sort of place that I direct people to first. Now beyond that there are many other stores right whether it's a Sur La Table or a Bed Bed Bath and Beyond or sometimes it's a discount household furnishing store. It could even be a place like Goodwill all of these places Costco comes to mind. Okay, but all these places will have, you know, cooking utensils and in supplies and and equipment in one form or another at one time or another right especially these places that are the inventories of which are based on donation. Okay, but check out these places and you know, think about what it is that you want and then just sort of kind of keep Eagle eye out for those items. Now some of this of course also depends upon your budget if a person has a Deep Pockets, then you know, go go down to the mall or someplace and and find a place, you know, like like the Calphalon store or whatever. It happens to be you're all clad store and and maybe it's gonna be a full-on copper cookware set whatever it is that appeals to you. You're gonna find some good quality. Now if you're on a smaller budget or a budget of some sort, then then it becomes fun and interesting to me because you need to be a little more Savvy a little more patient and you need to know what you're after by doing a little bit more research to see what characteristics and just what products that you might hone in on. Okay, but those are some places to start with and you might find some equivalent. Line is well, you know as a starting place in terms of yes, I guess expanding ones vocabulary and looking at photographs you might take a look at. You know these online restaurant supply stores. That's a great place for an education.
