Question:

I'm looking for a good grab and go breakfast that will tide me over for many hours before I get a chance to take a break for lunch at work. I don't like overnight oats.?

— Nicole Morales

Answer:

Let's expand the world Beyond overnight oats and you know take a look at things that provide fiber so fiber in a large way or you know is gonna come from fruits and vegetables as well as grains and beans or you know other legumes and So, you know, if if not oats well, let the kids. Let me also add another perspective here. Okay? In the US. Anyway, there is a a custom to eat something sweet for breakfast. And if we go to the rest of the world while certainly many places have adopted these sort of Western influences of a little sweet something in the morning many places have had and still have a tradition of eating Savory food for breakfast and you know, so it you know, it could be a Savory oatmeal but it could be sauteed vegetables, you know, it could be, you know, something like a hearty bean salad. Um, you know, and if we think about fruits, you know, I would think about you know, eating whole fruits that you can chew and you know, enjoy in that way certainly I would not recommend a juice because juices will lack the fiber that will bring satiety and we'll kind of keep your hunger at Bay for the the duration of a long morning. Okay. So if you don't eat Savory items for breakfast already give it a try and you know, you know keep an open mind and and you know be willing to you know, change the the morning repertoire and yeah these sorts of things in order to experience some of the new opportunities out there, you know, I'll share with you my routine, you know here at home at least Monday through Friday my I make me so soup and that's what our son enjoys for breakfast and then you know all of us do later on in the morning, but you know, that'll have Plenty of vegetables, whatever's in the fridge whatever is available and at sometimes includes some rice. Sometimes it includes noodles this morning. It was just a little batch of leftover rice noodles that I had. Sometimes it's soba right buckwheat noodles that I'll add to the soup and then I'll add you know, usually it's miso miso paste to give it some depth and some Umami for that satisfaction and then you can add other things if you want all sometimes I just a little dollop of Coach you changed to add another layer of flavor and some heat so there are many different ways to approach the breakfast plan, you know, if you're game to try out some some different ideas. All right, but think about fiber and don't be bashful about, you know, reaching for other legumes and other grains and plenty of fruits and vegetables.
