Question:
How about storing mushrooms in the fridge? Unfortunately my refrigerator has alot of humidity, and so even though I've tried putting in a paper bag w/ paper towel, I can't seem to preserve them for long. Any suggestions?
— Jennifer Kolikoff
Answer:
You're doing everything right with your using paper bags, which is the recommended source. The temperature of your refrigerator really has a lot to do with it. If I remember from interviewing the mushroom farmer. Something like 34 degrees is the suggested temperature for them. I buy mushrooms Loosely. I don't buy them in packages. I store them in tourism in a paper bag or towel like I used for the romaine lettuce. And I also suggest not buying them in too much quantity. You can if you want to you could saute them and then freeze them and I'm not sure if you're using them in soups, or as a side dish, but what you're doing is right I would check. I would check your the temperature of your refrigerator by actually putting a food thermometer in your refrigerator in the back to see what the temperature is. Like because sometimes we don't always know the exact temperatures of our ovens or our refrigerators. So that might be helpful. Very good question.
