Question:
ould you explain the difference between white onions, yellow onions, sweet onions and red onions and does it really matter in a recipe to substitute one for the other?
— Leonora Miller
Answer:
So I will answer this rather simply by saying that basically as we look at different onion varieties, you know aside from let's say the color difference that the onion might impart to the dish that you're preparing. There will be a difference in sweetness level and moisture level and you know also a heat or that that harshness, you know that comes along with onions sort of a level and Now the the onion flavor can also vary in intensity and I think you know really when it comes down to to cooking cooking your own food. The biggest considerations are going to be The the tradition right behind the recipe or that dish that you're preparing and then also your personal preference and it actually might run along the lines of convenience as well in terms of just what onion do you have in your inventory in I mean, otherwise, is there a difference sure right again based upon? You know what I just started out talking about but what you end up choosing is really going to be up to you okay, and you know, give it a try, you know, you might buy a few different onions and try them in a given preparation or try them throughout the week so that you have the ability to compare those results and you can start to figure out which ones you might prefer and maybe it turns out you like them all which makes it a very simple decision. All right.
