Question:
How to make garlic oil ...i've got a bunch of garlic cloves from last falls harvest..stiff neck garlic.?
— jimmy driscoll
Answer:
So garlic oil is a pretty simple thing to be able to make typically what you want to do is just take your clothes and garlic you want to definitely take all the skins and everything off of them. So you just have the clothes themself put them into a pan and then cover with oil and then bring that to just a simmer basically for about 15 minutes. It's typically about how much time it would take you can go a little bit longer. You'll see the garlic start to kind of turn color. It'll turn brown a little bit that'll give you more of a kind of a roasted garlic flavor which some people like which is great. Um, but yeah, so just cooking the oil our cooking the garlic in the oil for about 15 to 20 minutes letting it cool down and then putting it into a jar and then make sure to store that jar in the refrigerator. So you're not getting any anything that kind of gets into that jar because it won't be a shelf stable. It's the oil is original and you know any kind of oil will work a lot. Like to use olive oil because of the flavor on it. You're just simmering it so it should be fine. But you could use other types of oil like avocado oil or you know other high heat oils would be just fine to kind of depends on what you're using it for after the fact if you want to use a high heat versus olive oil.
