Question:

What’s the best way to taste test spices/blends to see if you like them before using them?

— Samantha Fulciniti

Answer:

I mean, you know this this can be challenging right because spices on their own that's just not the way we eat them, right we eat spices with something else. And so the is the best thing to do is to go ahead and cook with it and and make that your taste test and then you know from there, you know, you can make it adjustments either adding or omitting a spice in this entirety or adjusting the ratio of that item, you know in that blend now part of it is certainly going to be some some Faith or some trust. You know, when you look at a recipe and you think oh, wow, you know, I'm looking at this recipe you think I don't I don't like that ingredient Just go with it and give it a try. I you know, you you bring up a perfect example here. I've worked with so many consumers so many of my own students. To say I don't like this. I don't like that. But when you cook with it, it's transformed. It becomes something else something very different and you might like it. In fact, you know, if someone doesn't like a food and it's for aesthetic reasons, then maybe the cooking is the issue right? Maybe the way we handled that ingredient is the issue rather than that food product itself. So anyway, Samantha to get back to the heart of your question here just jump in and test it out and you know make a batch of food. That's half a recipe or a third of a recipe and see how you like it. All right. Thank you.
