What is the best option for storing root vegetables?

Answer:

For the most part for long term storage, and that cold storage, that sort of root cellaring, if you've got a wine cellar in your house that's a perfect place to put it, 'cause that's basically the exact same thing as a root seller. If you are buying things on that weekly basis, such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, wanna keep them from sprouting, Basically what you've done is taken them out of cold storage, at the store and in the supply chain, and put them at home, on your countertop. And that potato says, "Woo, it's spring. "It's 70 in here. "That's cool. "Hey buddy, let's go." Right? And they start sproutin'. Well, honestly, bottom line is, those sprouts are fine. Yes, it changes the physiology of the potato a little bit. But I mean, I deal with this literally every day with sprouted garlic, spouted, vegetables, et cetera. And I just use 'em. I just use 'em. I don't really mind that much. They also don't sit around long enough for those sprouts to really become plants. And you know what, if they do, like, congratulations, you get the Darwin award, you're going out into the garden. You survived, you survive. That's me, that's my life. But honestly, I don't think it's much of a deal, if you're talking about a week or so, maybe less. But you could just keep them in the refrigerator, that would help, or in any cool area.
