Can you share some tips on being a vegetarian while being a beginnner athlete on a gluten free/ low carb diet?

— Christine Winig

Answer:

Okay. So you're an athlete and you're starting out being plant-based. I'm guessing and you're on a gluten-free low-carb diet. So that's interesting. Gosh, I'd love to know what you're eating. I'd love to see a sample of your food journal. So low carb. Diet you would you know, you're gonna have to maintain your energy sources while you're doing your exercise. I would suggest, you know, making sure where you're getting your carbs from you're making sure you're not eliminating fruits and vegetables, especially vegetables, but both are going to be helpful for fuel and for Recovery because of all the antioxidant find a nutrient load. So I would suggest basing your meals on those awesome. I'm wondering what you're getting your what Your majority of your diet. Looks like. Are you eating a lot of soy foods? Are you eating a lot of I wonder if you're eating dairy and eggs. I would recommend minimizing or eliminating those because those aren't going to be held promoting but my tips would be so I guess if the emphasis is on the vegetarian and not the gluten-free low carb thing, I would say emphasize fruits and vegetables. I would say, you know, you'll know by your energy level, you know by your weight if you're eating enough, you know, if you start losing weight or having low energy, then I would reassess what you're eating but this would really be I would love to see the food journal. I would love to see your what kind of athlete you are. What kind of work out you're doing just to kind of give you some more specific but generally speaking make sure you're getting lots of fruits and vegetables, you know, if you're doing soy foods, that would be good to substantiate in terms of calories. Low carb, so how you doing high? Fat? Lots of nuts and seeds. I would love to see what your overall and take is and your calories, but I would just make sure you're eating a nice variety of foods a nice Friday emphasizing the fruits and vegetables nuts and seeds. If you can get in, you know about half a cup or a cup of lentils or legumes a day or beans that would be helpful, but that would bring bring up the car. So I'd have to see your overall diet and see what your your goals are to give you more specific advice.
