Question:

Any suggestions for recent vegetarians with low energy and pale skin (despite acceptable iron level)?

— Cenk Guven

Answer:

Well, I would love to see what you're eating. So that sounds more of a like a health concern and I think I need to know what your diet looks like. I'm glad your iron levels are good. I would suggest if you're a vegetarian I would suggest pulling out the dairy and the eggs and focusing more on the whole plant foods, but I really would wonder what you're saying. That could be are you getting enough sun? It's you know, we're kind of in heading towards winter now, that could be a reason but if your iron is, okay, and that's usually the one nutrient that's associated with power and being pale. So I would love to know what's really going on with you in terms of your overall diet your medical history in order for me to answer that but make sure for everyone you want to get a lot of color fruits and vegetables those red orange yellow green vegetables, you know, so like all the leafy greens and in the orange carotenoid rich foods, like sweet potato or pumpkin or red bell pepper or cherries and strawberries and all those foods that are red orange and yellow they have carotenoids and those carot and tomatoes by the way, really good source those crot noise tend to bring out the Change color the Natural Glow in your skin. So that's one way to address it. But I'm glad you're not anemic. I'd love to hear more about the actual details before I gave you any specific advice. I could do that. I see clients. You could find me on a play-based dietitian.com. If you click on the contact page, you can reach me directly and I'm happy to help you and help you get to the bottom of anything going on.
