What do you recommend for acne? I am currently plant based and all of the sudden I started getting acne again! Any comments?

Answer:

I was I had acne my whole life until I went plant-based and it got better but it didn't get really bad and gone like it's gone. I don't know if it's just the aging process, but what really helped me was getting rid of any sweeteners. Sugar and refined Foods has been have been associated with acne. So I don't know what your overall again I have to know exactly what you guys are eating on. This is why I love this is why dietitians love food journals, like I could say Oh, okay. That's what's going on, but it's kind of like detective work to figure out what's going on in your diet. Some people who eat a lot of soy I've heard complain of that. I don't know if there's actual scientific evidence on that that's just anecdote. But the biggest thing would be sugars and oils a lot of oil sometimes can trigger that process as well. Especially if you're eating a lot of you know, Omega six Rich oils, which most of them are unless you're eating a lot of hemp or flexible but most most plant oils are high in omega-6 fats and those are pro-inflammatory. So I would suggest making sure if you haven't done this already get rid of any refined sweeteners that includes, you know, things like Agave that people think of as sweet even as healthy or even maple syrup or stuff like that. I would just stick to fruit as a sweetener forever for everything. So if you're gonna sweeten something, you know, what maybe dates or date paste or dates you're up or or you know, I use fruit puree sometimes but just trying to get back to fruits as your number one sweetener is ideal in terms of acne and just in general it's gonna help your palate and oils, you know, I recommend cooking without oils baking without oils using them only. Has a flavoring if you're going to use them and and try those two things if you haven't already and that you should see a significant Improvement. And of course looking at you know, I wonder if you've changed anything in your your hygiene. Like have you changed products? Are you using something different? Maybe the products not working for you? That's another thing that could happen. But you know make the best thing for your skin is all those antioxidants and phytonutrients from leafy greens orange red yellow fruits and vegetables. So make sure you're consuming all of those things and eliminating the oils and refined Foods just processed foods. Just get rid of those.
